Will the IRS Investigate the Watchtower Society?
by ABibleStudent inif you feel that the wtbts is breaking a tax law(s), you can send a letter to investigate the wtbts to the irs to:.
department of the treasuryinternal revenue servicemc 4910 dal1100 commerce streetdallas, tx 75242 .
the irs will investigate complaints about the wtbts, but it will not investigate the wtbts without compliants being sent to the irs.

spelling? writing skills? you must be talking about me....LOL......I'm the worstest
I'm under the impression, unless the WTS hails a Red Flag or someone points out specifics the IRS won't really dig. A full out investigation is expensive and time consuming.
Well, there could be a trade off. Government taxes religion and in turn uses that money to infuse additional community services. But in all honesty that's not going to happen. Government thinks religion contributes to the well being of communities as well as the great divided between church and state.

MsGrowingGirl20 is no longer one of......
by MsGrowingGirl20 ini am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses(well mentally that is)---however i am a christian...i recently started reading different translations from www.biblegateway.com...jesus is so different to how the jw's teach....and god...i mean, i still am learning and confused about certain things but i am in love with them.... it's obvious that the jw's are not an organization of god.i don't think god is working through an organization but through individuals...however i am going to speak to an elder tomorrow about my issues---all of them---and i'm going to tell him everything--what i've been reading, where i got it from---everything!!
i'm not hiding anything!
i have done no wrong....i just want to be a true christian and if they disfellowship me for seeking answers then this is not where i need to be.

Hello Girl20 Wow major steps to get the hell out of the creepy WTS.
Tell them "everything"?? Never wise to show your full hand (card saying), this way you can have the upper hand. if you mention JWN, loud alarm bells will automatically go off and though they won't say it, they'll immediately assume you're going down the Apostate road and will begin mapping out their plan of what trick questions to ask in their heads.
My suggestion is tell them you "stumbled" accross informatin from various blogs and someone you spoke with. They will do what diamondiiz mentioned and send you on your merry way. If you're still not satisfied, have your DA letter ready and turn it in. This way you go out on YOUR terms and maybe able to salvage certain friendships. Whereas if you're labled an scary Apostate or DF'd (people in the cogo with think it for immorality) it's a more negative lable. I know they are still encouraged to shun ones who have DA'd themselves, but there's many who won't.
Here's a perfect example of a Judicial Committee of an older couple who had questions and were DF'd. It's very insightful http://www.jehovahswitnessbooks.com/2010/03/judicial-committee-meeting-of-dale.html

New US Government Petition re: Cults and Tax Exemptions
by mind blown inthis is on the official us government site.. note: someone was under the impression this was unconstitutional and it wouldn't pass, however, steven unthank replyed that tax exempt status (re: usc title 26 501 tax exemptions requirements) is not a constitutional right and can indeed be regulated by the us government through the irs.
freedom of religion does no mean freedom from tax.

This has NOTHING to do with freedoms. It has to do with intitutions/cults doing DAMAGE & HARM with out dated practices (inquisition, stoning, hanging, exil, blacks at the back of the bus) or mind bending brain washing & shunning, that harm modern society in the 21st Century and getting a free tax ride.

I signed for a good cause. By all accounts the WTS is guilty of enslaving it's members.
What about "Universal" Declaration Of Human Rights: http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/
Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,
Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people,
Whereas it is essential , if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,
Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between nations,
Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms,
Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge,
Now, Therefore THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.

Hello BroPrince and Welcome
I've been in the world for many years, though it's true conditions are better then the 20's ( look at old photos of NYC) , but I do believe man's internal condition has not. Govermental corruption, law inforcement corruption....etc....
I myself still beiieve in God and feel the bible has core universal truths for all. But it hasn't been JW doctrine that has blown my mind, it's the outright dishonestly, hiding pedophiles, money laundering, claiming 144000 are only a theocratic arrangement to get out of a court issues, the corporation, dummy companies, now saying JW only volunteer thier service instead of expected to go out in service (that's not what JW charter says and well as time card)...the list goes on. A real contrast to Christ teachings. These men weilding religious law, DFing many and distroying families, when they themselves should be Df'd.
I personally feel "Paul" was the "leader" in spreading the good news of the kingdom down to our 21st Century, it was already in motion and the first fruits had the wonderful previlge of spreading it......and now it's up to us to find it....
I know the bible has been corrupted, there's missing books, there was many various stories of Christ even within Egypt religion, but as I mentioned there's something about this crazy man....and stories of kind mercy that still makes me believe.
The GB had their chance to do the right thing and now they have lost repect among many. I don't think any man or organization can claim they are the chosen ones......we can never live up to that.....The Great Mo couldn't live up to it while leading the chosen people....so time will only tell....
If you don't mind bending to the GB rules, If you can stand watching them steal KH from congregations who bought them with their own money.... it's your life.....you can love Jah in and you can love Jah out.......that's my take......for now.....
